The SHAC in Robertson

SHAC — Southern Highlands Artisans Collective — is a not-for-profit organisation building a vibrant creative hub in the old potato shed (next to The Big Potato) in Robertson NSW, bringing together some of the most talented artists and artisans in the Highlands under one roof.

 

They opened in May 2019, is a dynamic destination where visitors can see a diverse range of artisans and artists at work in their studios creating work or browse in our dedicated art gallery spaces. Artworks are for sale in the SHAC Galleries and direct from the artists and artisans. The public, designers and architects can also commission bespoke work or see visiting artisans hosting talks and lectures.

 

Visitors can also attend regular workshops in Green Door Studios where you can learn from talented artisans and guest tutors.

 

The world-class Moonacres School also moved into SHAC in 2020 adding to the ever-growing collective buzz in Robertson.

In August 2021, Jennings Kerr Gallery opened up their new gallery in the SHAC precinct, making our creative hub a go-to destination in the Southern Highlands.

 

One of the best ways to engage with the SHA is to become a member with benefits including invitations to exhibitions, artists talks, events, discounts from participating makers and workshops, membership is your best way to become involved with The SHAC.

 

They currently have three levels of membership available, Friends (for individuals) & families (for 2 adults, 2 children) or Community (for local businesses.) Fees provide membership for one year.

 

Some of the inhouse artists and artisans include Ric Abel (painter), Bronwyn Berman (sculptor), Shaz Collyer (painter), Cat Dolye (painter), Robin Ezad Annie Day (printmakers and painters), james King (painter), Grant Parker (jeweller) and many others.

This is one of our favourite galleries in NSW and there is no such thing as a quick visit! The range of work is enormous from a group of highly talented artists.

 

Head down for a day and grab a pie from the famous Robertson Pie Shop, or from the pub over the road.
